DNC Unveils Voter Expansion Project

The Democratic Party has a mission when it comes to voting: that every eligible voter can register, that every registered voter can vote, and that every vote is accurately counted. This seems simple, but Republicans have very different ideas for the future of the democratic process. They have decided that if they can’t win with fair and equal polling practices, they’ll work the system to get the results they desire.

Restrictive voter ID laws have been passed in Texas, Alabama, Arizona and Kansas, in order to keep eligible voters from the polls. They’ve restricted early voting periods in states like Wisconsin, Ohio, and North Carolina. They’ve even gone to outrageous lengths like suing their states to stop online voter registration.

Apply to the College Leadership Academy!

The Young Democrats of America and College Democrats of America recently announced the first annual college leadership academy, a 5 day program in Washington D.C. from July 13-17. The program will be modeled after YDA’s annual high school leadership academy, which I attended in 2011. This is an exciting opportunity for College Democrats to meet national leaders, participate in important trainings, and tour the nation’s capital.

In 2011, I came to the high school leadership academy somewhat skeptical and left with memories that will last a lifetime. Last year’s high school leadership academy attendees met Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Martin O’Malley and Representative Nancy Pelosi just to name a few.
