CDA President Natasha McKenzie went to Capitol Hill to interview Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-15) for our Alumni Spotlight series. Rep. Swalwell is not only one of the youngest Members of the U.S. House of Representatives-- he’s one of its hardest working. Student Aid Bill of Rights

Yesterday, President Obama announced the Student Aid Bill of Rights, aimed at helping students be able to obtain a higher education with minimal struggle and financial stress from loans.

The Student Aid Bill of Rights maintains that every student deserves access to a quality, affordable education at a college that’s cutting costs and increasing learning and should be able to access the resources needed to pay for college. Additionally, every borrower has the right to an affordable repayment plan and the right to quality customer service, reliable information, and fair treatment, even if they struggle to repay their loans.

Alumni Spotlight: Tom Manatos

Tom Manatos is famous in political circles for connecting people with jobs. The Tom Manatos Jobs List has a membership of over 20,000 and has helped both Democrats and Republicans find employment opportunities. Tom got his start in politics working for a county executive race and a gubernatorial race, and was later asked to volunteer at the Democratic National Convention in 2000. Tom also spent time in Congress working on Congresswoman’s Nancy Pelosi’s staff. At present, Tom is the Director of Government Affairs at the Internet Association.
