WASHINGTON - College Democrats of America Veterans Caucus Chair, Ben Price issued the following statement in recognition of Veterans Day.
"Today we honor our nation's heroes of every generation for their valor, service and sacrifice. I thank my fellow veterans for their unflinching courage, service and dedication to our country. I also thank our leadership in Washington for their unwavering support and dedication to bettering the lives of veterans. And in the wake of last week's tragedy at Fort Hood we renew our promise to veterans - not just today, but every day.
"President Obama and our elected officials in Congress have demonstrated a strong commitment to our cause. After taking office President Obama requested, and Congress approved, a 16 percent increase in the 2010 budget for the Department of Veterans affairs, the largest one-year increase in 30 years. Through the Post 9/11 GI Bill, more than 250,000 veterans will have the opportunity to attend college in the next two years alone. Over the last 10 months, the Administration has shown their dedication to improve the lives of my fellow veterans.
"Today we thank our veterans for answering their call to duty, and we continue to work to honor their dedication and selfless service."
