Nicholas Kitchel is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying Political Science and Public Policy. He has experience at all levels of College Democrats and has held various political and government positions. In 2011, he interned in the Office of Governor Jerry Brown, where he led a project that saved the Governor’s Office over $40,000. During the summer of 2012, Nicholas interned at the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C., where he drafted endorsement letters for President Obama and reached out to elected officials nationwide for rapid response press releases in support of the president. During the same summer, he helped organize the College Democrats of America National Convention in Charlotte, NC. As Chief of Staff for the California College Democrats in 2012-2013, he executed a successful “Yes on Proposition 30″ field campaign that included online advertisements that reached over one million college students across the state of California. During the summer of 2013, he conducted policy research as a Congress Watch intern for Public Citizen. Additionally, Nicholas is a National Staff Writer for the Berkeley Political Review, a committee member of Phi Alpha Delta Co-Ed Pre-Law Fraternity, a Young People For alumnus, a former College Democrats of America Finance Committee member, and the former 2011-2013 National Affairs Chief Deputy at UC Berkeley. He plans to continue working in public service with the goal of moving our nation forward toward a future that is more equitable for all.
