Gracie Brandsgard | National Council Vice Chair | firstname.lastname@example.org
Gracie grew up in Des Moines, Iowa where she was lucky enough to be exposed to politics at a young age, spending her winter breaks visiting the Iowa House of Representatives where her dad worked. Gracie first became involved with Obama’s campaign in 2007 as an intern after her freshman year of high school, and later worked for the campaign again in 2011 as a Summer Organizer.
She attends Grinnell College where she is an Economics major with a concentration in Global Development Studies. She actively worked with the Grinnell College Democrats to mobilize students for the 2010 midterms, where Grinnell had one of the highest student participations in Iowa. Following the successful midterm efforts, Gracie became a co-chair of the Grinnell Democrats where she continues to work with her counterparts to engage other students in the political process.
In the spring of 2011, Gracie was elected Political Director of College and Young Democrats of Iowa where she worked to expand CYDI’s budget, organized their first spring conference, and coordinated organizing efforts with the State party and OFA for local and state elections. She has also served as the Heartland Regional Director for CDA where she worked to establish state federations in Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
