State Spotlight: DC Federation

by eboard,

The District of Columbia College Democrats visited the Eastern
Panhandle of West Virginia on October 1 and October 2 to campaign on
behalf of Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. 82 College Democrats from American
University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and
Trinity University knocked doors as a part of get-out-the-vote efforts
in advance of the October 4 gubernatorial special election that Gov.
Tomblin would go on to win.

In the course of the trip, DCCD knocked approximately 8,340 doors in
Martinsburg, Charlestown, Harper’s Ferry, and Ranson. DCCD also made
1400 calls from call lists and a number more from the campaign’s
automatic dialer, bringing our total voter contact number to 1960.

The DCCD is proud to have played its role in the College Democrats of
America’s nation-wide effort to keep Gov. Tomblin, a great Democratic
governor, in office. We look forward to a similar invasion into
Virginia later this year and encourage other states to conduct similar
invasions in the future.
