Yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama led a special conference call to celebrate the launch of Women for Obama. She emphasized the importance of supporting our President in order to ensure that change prevails. President Obama has been working tirelessly for women during his time in office. Thanks to his efforts, being a woman is no longer a pre-existing condition; our right to equal pay has been strengthened; and women now have greater opportunities to take the lead in scientific research and development.

The College Democrats of America are proud to support Women for Obama because we know that women’s issues are our issues. They are America’s issues. Every student in the nation benefits from a country that embraces equality and progress, and we will stop at nothing to ensure that leaders who embrace these values are voted into office.

CDA has long recognized the importance of putting women in the spotlight; our Women’s Caucus takes the initiative to address such issues as the promotion of increased participation by women in government, women’s health, equal pay, and preventing violence against women. By joining Women for Obama, you too can lead the charge for women in America. Though we have made great strides, we still have a long way to go. A strong leader like President Obama will ensure that our progress doesn’t stop in 2012.
