Speaking to students at Colorado State University earlier this week, President Obama said to young Americans that the country is counting on them. The Democratic National Convention will welcome over one thousand youth delegates this year, further underscoring the importance of the youth vote in November.

Alejandra Salinas, President of the College Democrats of America will address delegates from all fifty states and the U.S. territories at the Convention next week. “It is such an honor to be speaking to the largest Democratic gathering in our country,” Alejandra said. “As the first Latina President of the College Democrats of America, I am proud to speak for my generation. The College Democrats of America (CDA) are thrilled to announce reconstituting the CDA Board of Directors. The Board will consist of elected officials and party leaders who will actively advocate and support the work of College Democrats across the country. We are especially excited that former Democratic National Committee Vice Chair of Finance and longtime party activist and leader,  Howard M Glicken,  has agreed to serve as Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Glicken served as Chairman of the CDA Board for ten years during the 1990s, where he was instrumental in helping the College Democrats develop chapters across the country and build its presence and participation within the Democratic Party nationally.

“We are overjoyed that Howard will be leading our efforts to ...

From APIA Caucus Chair Manisha Goud

In May, we commemorate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Every year, we recognize the accomplishments and contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, as well as those individuals who have helped to shape the United States. AAPIs are one of the fastest growing communities in the nation, which only heightens the stake we hold in the political process.

This year, we can take advantage of our growing voice. In 2012, we have the opportunity to re-elect a President who has consistently supported the AAPI community. Since 2008, President Obama has worked tirelessly with Congress to enact legislation that significantly benefits AAPI communities. Because of the obstacles and challenges young people face in ...

College Democrats respond to the NOM Romney endorsement

Alejandra Salinas Posted April 12, 2012 at 4:58 PM

As a young LGBT voter, the choice is clear: I am supporting President Barack Obama in November. The President solidified his commitment to the LGBT community during his campaign in 2008, and to this day, he continues to be a champion for progress. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, continues to be a champion for discrimination and division. The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) endorsed former Governor Romney on Wednesday; this is the same organization that designed a strategy to create a divide between LGBT Americans and African Americans. NOM’s endorsement demonstrates the clear contrast between President Obama and Governor Romney.

President Obama led the repeal of the discriminatory policy “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” which came to a welcome end on ...

Following our merger with the CDA earlier the year, the Law Dems were excited about partacking our first ever CDA Winter Conference!

The Conference, held on March 10th at the historic Palmer House in downtown Chicago, was everything we thought it would be – and more! Obama for America campaign manager Jim Messina gave a great speech full of candid insights about the re-election, and Rep. Jesse Jackson followed with an equally passionate speech that had us all of jumping out of our seats!

Our first ever Law Caucus meeting was exceptionally attended - with Law Dems even standing in the hallway because all the seats were taken!  Emily Tisch Sussman, Young Democrats of America Executive Director and Cardozo Law alum (’08), ...
