Alabama College Democrats Relief Project

A message from Alabama College Democrat Beth Clayton:
President Obama’s plane touched down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama around 10:00 this morning to survey the area he declared to be in a state of emergency.  “I’ve never seen devastation like this,” he said.

Alabama was the hardest hit state by the storm series that swept through the Southeast Wednesday night.  The death toll is still rising, with over 228 reported dead in Alabama alone and over 300 throughout the South. Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, was the hardest hit city in the South; there have been over 40 confirmed deaths with many more reported missing. Overall the storms have killed over 250 people in 9 states.

CDA Service Week

We are thrilled to announce that the CDA Service Week is finally here! Our Service Week takes place from April 10 – April 17, and we hope that all of our states and chapters have planned exciting community service projects for this week.

Community service is something all College Democrats should strive to do. Giving back to the community is one of the core components of public service, and a key part of the President’s agenda (check out his call to service at http://www.serve.gov/). Service is directly helping the people that need it most. It reminds us of why we became involved in politics in the first place.

I am thrilled to announce that the 2011 CDA Summer Convention (#CDA11) will be held in our nation’s capital on June 16th-19th at George Washington University!

This will not be your ordinary CDA Convention. In the coming weeks will be unveiling the exciting list of speakers, trainers, and unprecedented events that will be part of this year’s convention, which includes taking our convention to Capitol Hill.
