Natasha McKenzie Posted September 4, 2014 at 1:20 PM
by , National President, College Democrats of America

Today, Jake Wagner, Chair of the New Hampshire Federation of College Republicans from 2012-2014 announced in an op-ed that he is switching parties to become a Democrat. In response, College Democrats of America President Natasha McKenzie released the following statement.

"On behalf of the College Democrats of America, I'd like to offer Jake a hearty "welcome aboard."  This year's election offers a clear choice for young Americans. It's a choice between Democrats, who are working to make sure that everyone can access a quality, affordable education and Republicans, who continue to stand in the way of progress. by , Deputy Communications Director

This past weekend, the College Democrats of America (CDA) hosted our National Convention in Atlanta, GA. Delegates in attendance heard from national speakers, attended trainings from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) staff, held panels among State Leaders, recognized the previous year’s accomplishments with awards, and conducted elections for the National Executive Board.

Speakers included Georgia Democratic Governor Nominee, Jason Carter, and DNC Chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Breakout sessions provided Delegates with fantastic training opportunities to learn from members of the DNC staff and CDA National and State Leaders. Topics included best communications practices, finance and fundraising, and preparing for the 2014 midterm elections.

CDA recognized the accomplishments of Chapters, State Federations, and individual members through awards. Chapter of the Year was awarded to the ...

Resignation of CDA Appointed Leader

Taylor Barnard Posted August 6, 2014 at 8:32 PM
by , National President, College Democrats of America

Evan Goldstein has resigned from his position as a member of the CDA communications team. In a recent Facebook exchange between Evan and two other individuals (who have not held positions in CDA for some time) Evan made inflammatory comments regarding Israel and Palestine. His positions do not reflect the position of our organization. CDA does not take a position on this issue. We support open dialogue on all issues - free from incendiary and harsh language. We expect our communications team to exercise judgment in their social media posts. CDA is committed to making sure situations like this do not occur going forward.

We’re Not Fooled

Natasha McKenzie Posted July 30, 2014 at 11:08 AM

Today, Senator Marco Rubio announced that he is co-sponsoring a campus sexual assault bill with numerous other legislators. Although we are pleased that he has joined the effort to address this crucial issue, we nevertheless remember his past voting record.

CDA Vice President Natasha McKenzie released the following statement:

"While it's great news that Senator Rubio has joined the many bipartisan voices working to end campus sexual assault, it's impossible to forget that he voted twice against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. At a time when nearly one in five women in the US have been raped on and off campus, and one in four women have experienced severe violence from a partner, Rubio's continued opposition to this important (and bipartisan) ...
