CDA Spotlight: Arizona Federation

The Arizona federation celebrated a new direction and the start to an exciting school year in two important ways this summer. In June, Arizona recruited an Honorary Chair. Then, just last week, they celebrated their new Chair and the release of an exciting agenda through two Launch Parties, one in Tuscon and another in Phoenix.

Honorary Chairs are an excellent way for state federations to recruit leaders who will support their development and political goals. Arizona's Rep. Ruben Gallego, a state representative, has worked with the Arizona federation in the past to organize youth and advocate on their behalf in the legislature, such as by supporting the DREAM Act. College Democrats,

The College Democrats of America's Executive Board is thrilled to
announce that we will be constituting the CDA Labor Caucus! Although
we have not yet decided who will be leading the caucus, we are
confident after reviewing our applications that the incoming Chair and
Vice Chair will work hard to mobilize young people on behalf of the
fight for working Americans.

At our first board meeting of the year, the Executive Board was in
full agreement: the need to fight on behalf of workers and unions
under assault in states like Wisconsin and Ohio, the critical
importance of labor to the Democratic Party, and the interest shown at
the 2011 Convention made it obvious that now was the time to bring
back our Labor Caucus.
