Since CDA is the official youth outreach arm of the Democratic National Committee, chartering exposes you to many benefits the Party has to offer. For example, we offer grants, publish organizing guides and host workshops to enhance our communication with you and offer you support as you build your grassroots network of College Democrats within your state and on your campus.
College Democrats will frequently come together to speak with one voice on progressive issues during Days of Action. For example, last year College Democrats around the country celebrated the anniversary of the repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” that now allows gays to serve openly in the military. You may want to do Days of Action for issues that matter most to your constituents, too.
And of course, by chartering with CDA, you are now a member of the CDA family, the family of students all working together for the same goals across the nation. Not only do we work on our own campuses and communities, we all gather together twice a year as one big family for winter conference and summer convention. The friends you meet will be your biggest cheerleaders and help you with everything you may need during your time as a College Democrat and beyond.
As a state federation you are our main connection to the chapters. In order to become one of our state federations, we ask that each organization submit the State Federation Chartering Form.
Chapter leaders are the backbone of this organization. If you are on a campus in a state where we do not have a chartered state federation, please fill out our Chapter Chartering Form. All other chapters will be expected to charter through their state federations.
Should you have any questions, we hope that you do not hesitate to ask our Membership Director, Andy Laub. Once you have completed the appropriate forms, please submit them through him. We are excited to have you become a part of our CDA family and looking forward to working with you!
