Jim Messina, Obama for America Campaign Manager

A Western Democrat and expert campaigner, Messina left his job as chief of staff to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) in June 2008 to work on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. As the 2008 campaign chief of staff, he impacted all major decisions, from budget to message.  After Obama’s victory, he served as the Deputy White House Chief of Staff . Messina left soon afterwards, in January 2011, to assume the post of campaign manager of Obama’s 2012 reelection effort. In 2012, Messina will be working from Chicago to manage the nuts-and-bolts of the campaign operation.

Sara El-Amine, OFA National Trainings Director

During the 2008 campaign, Sara organized at all levels—working in Iowa, Idaho, Texas, Mississippi, Indiana, Colorado, and Virginia. Over the last four years, she has seen thousands of folks realize the power they have to make a difference in their communities. Today, as National Training Director of Obama for America, she works across all levels of the organization, from HQ staffers to fall fellows, making sure that everybody has the skills they need to be the best they can be.

DNC Secretary Alice Germond

Alice Germond is the Secretary of the Democratic National Committee. She has been elected without opposition by the full Committee for three consecutive terms, beginning with a special election in 2002. Alice also serves on the Executive Committee, the Rules and By-Laws Committee, and as Secretary for the Democratic National Convention where she calls the role of states that determines the Party’s nominee. Alice has participated in every Convention since 1974 when the Party wrote its National Charter
